The theme of partial hardening in hot stamping lines has been with us since our entry into this technology in 2004. Since this time, several methods are being used to achieve the targeted local temperature profiles on the components, and this with a wide variety of furnace and tool concepts. Blank and component handling has also changed significantly and, in particular, accelerated. Specifically, in Process Control and Process Monitoring, the component temperature plays a decisive role.

In hot stamping for steel lines the use of suitable measuring equipment is necessary to achieve reliable measurement results and to comply with international standards such as CQI-9.

Because hot stamping / warm forming of aluminum takes place at much lower temperatures and the surface is neither coated nor tempered, non-contact temperature measurement is only possible with a few carefully selected sensors.

Advanced roller hearth furnaces with completely new roller sets are guaranteed for optimal scheduled transport of blanks over the entire furnace section up to centering. With the most attentive operation of the furnace, signs of aging and material buildup on the rollers can be minimized, but not completely prevented, which repeatedly leads to the ejection of blank sets that cannot be centered.
